This independent Vueni demo helps Detroit residents explore critical home repair resources. It is operated by The Understanding Company and is not an official City of Detroit service.
Information we collect
You do not need an account. We set a signed, HTTP-only guest-session cookie so your browser can continue the same chat and so we can enforce basic usage limits.
We store the messages you send, guided-intake answers, tool results, and source links for up to 30 days so you can reload the conversation. Saved chat records exclude file payloads, private model reasoning, and internal resume tokens.
If you attach a photo or document, it is sent for repair-related text extraction and model processing. The file may be staged temporarily in encrypted cloud storage and is deleted after processing on a best-effort basis. Do not upload Social Security numbers, banking or login credentials, or full financial documents.
Hosting and security systems may collect ordinary technical logs, such as request time, browser type, network information, and errors.
How we use your information
We use this information to answer repair questions, continue your chat, retrieve public resources, prevent abuse, troubleshoot errors, and improve reliability.
We may use aggregated, de-identified data to understand how people use Vueni and to improve the product. We do not sell your personal information.
Sharing with others
Vercel hosts the web application. Amazon Web Services provides AI processing and storage, including Amazon Bedrock and DynamoDB. These providers process data to operate the demo under their service agreements.
We may disclose information if required by law, to protect safety, or to enforce our terms.
Retention and security
The guest-session cookie and saved conversations expire after up to 30 days by default. Temporary attachment staging is removed after extraction on a best-effort basis. Service logs may be kept longer when needed for security, debugging, or legal obligations.
We use reasonable safeguards to protect your data, but no online service can guarantee perfect security.
Your choices
Starting a new chat clears the current conversation from this tab but does not immediately erase its saved record. You can clear the guest cookie in your browser. To request access to or deletion of demo data, email support@theunderstanding.company from the browser and device you used, and include the conversation URL if available.
You can stop using the demo at any time. The assistant does not submit City applications or change an application status on your behalf.
Children
Vueni is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will post the updated policy on this page and update the effective date above.
